OVERVIEW

  • The consummate “generalist”; Rodney has completed site engineering, project management, estimating and New Business Management as main contractor and piling subcontractor.

  • While not a designer, Rodney understands complex engineering and how it effects constructability of projects.

  • With a flair of Early Contractor Involvement – Rodney uses his communications skills to understand the key drivers of all parties of a project to develop a best-for-project solution. This includes a “no-surprises” approach where complex engineering problems are comprehensively explored to understand both risks and opportunities.

  • Rodney pulls site teams together to deliver projects that exceed client expectations.

Specific Projects
& Relevant Experience:

  • AIAL Projects 2015-2019; All projects completed for AIAL in the last 5 years had Rodney central to design management and value engineering. Understanding the key drivers to AIAL, structural and geotechnical engineering and Main Contractors – Rodney helps the project hit the ground running by providing clear, concise, and actionable advice that is always “best for client, best for project”.

  • East London Line Stage 1 (3500+ piles, £ 20M value) – Despite significant and continual design set-backs Rodney still achieved all piling milestones either on time or ahead of schedule despite – critical with £50,000/day liquidated damages. Rodney was the first point of contact between main contractor, piling subcontractor, design consultants, local council, rail and utility providers throughout the construction of all foundations on the project

  • HWR Tower, Invercargill (~100 screw piles, $800k) – After reviewing the bored pile design Rodney identified a significant opportunity to redesign the foundations. By leading initial conversations between Piletech and Beca Rodney ensured that a complete redesign (and reconsent) still accelerated the programme forward, whilst also making direct savings of over $500k for the client.
