SSSHHHHHHHH!!!!!! PRINCIPAL SAYS KEEP THE NOISE DOWN!!!!
Installing 8no. piles to 28m depths right beside an operational school is actually easy-peasy!!!
The thought of installing deep #piles in such a location invokes words like *** DISRUPTION *** PROBLEMATIC *** HASSLES - but it doesn't have to be when you choose the right piling methodology.
In this case, #screwpiles have proved to be a great choice of methodology because:
(i) NO VIBRATION: the installation of screw piles causes less vibration that tracking the excavator into position. This means less chance of damaging the adjacent building and services/utilities that will run underground.
(ii) LITTLE NOISE: There is no impact hammers creating excessive noise - only the light hum of the powerhead turning the piles into the ground.
(iii) SPEED: These 8 piles were installed within 2 days!
(iv) LITTLE DISRUPTION: No spoil to remove (no trucks, no excavator), little concrete (no tremmie pouring, and very small volumes with a pump only once all piles are installed), and the piles were installed quickly.
(v) POSTAGE STAMP SITE: A small area within which to get plant and materials - a #screwpile is ideal because there is less plant and deliveries making for a safer site.
When it comes to #deepfoundations - getting a great price, with good quality and fast programme is often about understanding the best piling methodology to use, and having an experienced designer and subcontractor.
This way the school operations can continue with less problems, hassles and disruption....
..... and then the principal can go back to telling the students to shhhhhh...
Know your piling methodology
